Being a LightThe other day I went to Panera. I don’t remember who I went with because I go so often nowadays and waste all my money there. But that’s besides the point. It was pouring raining and I had to run to my car which was parked a hot minute away. This was the same kinda rain where you gotta put your windshield wipers on turbo speed. The kinda rain that gets you so drenched that you end up substituting it for a shower (that’s a joke I’m clean)! But seriously there’s no way to experience rain and it not be obvious. That sounds dumb but. When you’re in the rain, you cannot avoid it! (I’m looking @ you, kids at school who think sprinting through the rain will keep you dry.) It is impossible to remain dry and unaffected by rain, when you become immersed into it. There are endless accounts in the Bible (and outside!!) of being who experience Jesus. These people range from beggars, kings, soldiers, prostitutes, thieves, and countless others. As diverse as they all may be, there’s something that they all share. No one is the same after encountering Jesus. No one remains unaffected. No one keeps dry. How on earth could you not be affected by your salvation through Jesus? Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 As a believer, how does your relationship with Jesus make you different? As a believer, being different is so important. Jesus was and is SOOO different. He disregarded revenge and instead seeked forgiveness. He forgot about grudges and lived purely through love. As of follower and disciple of Jesus, you have the ability to change the world. Simple as that. In Acts 17, christians are described to being able to turned the world upside down. But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too. Acts 17:6 This is so frickin cool!! My good pal Kaitlyn shared this with me in Portugal, when I asked why her background photo was an upside down world map. The thing is, we can't change the world alone. As individuals, we're so weak and our heart is wicked. (Follow God, not your heart, because your heart is stupid.) Without God, I am nothing. But if I just ask for His help, HE WILL provide!!!! Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 God wants you to make an impact. Make a difference; even if it's just a little one. But a little one will go a long way! The Lord calls us to be a light. HE says that you are the light of the world. And a town on a hill cannot be hidden!! Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on tis stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house! IN the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and GLORIFY your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14 Jesus is the light of the world and when you have that light in you, you have to let it shine! Let people see how amazing our God is. Jesus didn’t remain silent. HE SPOKE UP!! When you have expireneced Jesus, you’ve experienced being staturated by the rain, you’ve experienced the ENDLESS GRACE of our amazing God, how could you keep it to yourself? How could you NOT share it with others? When unbelievers see the difference Jesus made in you, they will notice. And they will see that there's something different about you and that that something is Jesus!
